The Ghana Police Service has announced the arrest of the self-styled sorcerer who declared 90-year-old Akua Denteh as a witch leading to her lynching.
According to the Service, the sorcerer was arrested by Police in the Savannah Region at her hideout in Yeji Monday night.
She is currently in Police custody and becomes the eighth person to have been arrested in connection with the death of Akua Denteh.
A post on Facebook announcing her arrest said “Sherina Mohammed alias Alhajia, aged 40 and being the sorcerer who masterminded the lynching of 90-year-old Madam Akua Denteh, at Kafaba has been arrested at her hide-out at Yeji last night. She is in Police custody”.

Akua Denteh was declared as a witch by Sherina Mohammed who is a known self-styled priestess in the Savannah region of Ghana.
She is known to have been the brain behind the death of 90-year-old Akua Denteh after she declare her as a witch and she was subjected to torture at the hands of other women in the community.
The death of Akua Denteh became topical after a video of these women subjecting her to severe beating went viral on social media.
High profile personalities have condemned the act and have called on authorities to ensure that Akua Denteh is the last old woman who will be beaten to death all in the name of being a witch.
