Rapper Yaa Pono has shot down requests he should go back to being friends with dancehall artiste Shatta Wale.
According to him, he does not understand the request when he and Shatta Wale have never been friends in the first place.
“There is no friendship to go back to,” he said.
Speaking on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM, the ‘Amen’ hitmaker stated that even when they smoked a peace pipe they may not be friends adding that “this has nothing to do with hatred, I just don’t know him.”
Yaa Pono told Mequry Quaye, host of the show, that, “so if you, Merqury Quaye, are my friend from childhood, and something happens between you and me.
“Then Andy Dosty tells me, Pono you have to go back and be friends with Merqury Quaye, it makes sense but here lies the case the friendship is not there for me to go back to.”
The ‘Obia Ne Ne Master’ singer added that he and Shatta Wale have not had that connection he has with other artistes.
“…I didn’t like him but because we never had any connection, if we don’t have that connection how can I go back?” he quizzed.
It is no secret that Yaa Pono and Shatta Wale do not see eye to eye. The two have constantly been jabbing each other in their songs.
Many fans and industry players have been wondering if they would also move beyond their rivalry and be friends.
Yaa Pono says he is open to creating a friendship space with Shatta Wale explaining, “I have nothing against Shatta Wale, we can be friends in the name of God.”
