President Nana Akufo-Addo has on Thursday, 28 February appointed new regional ministers and deputies for the newly created regions. This increases the number of ministers under his administration to over 120 ministers of state.
Political analyst and governance practitioners alike had express hope of the president assigning some of his 110 ministers to the the newly created regions so as to keep the cost of running the government down.
However, the president has elevated three deputy ministers to head some new regions.
The deputy minister of Aviation, Kwabena Otchere Darko Mensah has been promoted to Western Regional Minister. A job formally occupied by Dr Kwaku Afriyie.
Also, Deputy Health Minister, Kingsley Aboagye Gyedu and the Deputy Northern Regional Minister have been elevated to Regional Ministers in charge of Western North and North East regions, respectively.
