Mr Stephen Atubiga has reportedly withdrawn his candidature from the NDC flagbearer contest and called for support for former President John Dramani Mahama to lead the party to Election 2020.
Mr Stephen Atubiga communicated his decision to the party HQ through a letter he sent to the General Secretary, Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketiah.
Mr Asiedu Nketiah read the letter at the party headquarters on Tuesday afternoon, graphic online reports.
Political analysts and some members of the NDC had earlier described that, Mr Stephen Atubiga’s decision to contest for the flagbearership of the party as a mockery of the democratic process. It is not known, whether his decision to redraw from the race has anything to do with the filing fees or he struggled to secure endorsement as required by the party.
More to follow.
