If you’re a man who struggles to woo the ladies, your personality may be to blame, according to a new study.
Researchers from Queensland University of Technology have revealed that men with certain personality traits have sex more often.
In particular, they found that men who are extraverted, emotionally stable, agreeable or conscientious have the most sex.
In the study, the researchers surveyed 3,000 men and 1,500 women about their sex lives.
The results revealed that personality had a large effect on the amount of sex men had, but not so much for women.
Dr Stephen Whyte, who led the study, said: “We found key personality differences between the sexes in both sexual frequency and offspring success.
“Compared to females, males report a larger number of personality factors that influence such outcomes, which explains a greater proportion of the variation in sexual activity.”
For both men and women, extraversion was found to lead to more sex.
But for men, other personality traits were also found to play a role.
Dr Whyte added: “The results showed certain trait combinations appear to result in higher sexual frequency and more offspring for select males.
“The combinations producing higher sexual frequency for select males being high extraversion and high agreeableness, high extraversion and high conscientiousness, and high agreeableness with high conscientiousness.”
