Former President John Dramani Mahama has arrived in Sefwi Bekwai on Saturday to start his five-day campaign tour of the Western Region, his campaign team has said.
Mr Mahama is scheduled to visit all 26 constituencies in the Western Region.
Mr Mahama is seeking to lead the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the third time into a presidential election.
His first attempt in 2012 was successful but he failed in his second, in 2016. The NDC will go to the polls later this month to elect its flagbearer for the 2020 elections.
Mr Mahama is contesting the flagbearership with seven other party stalwarts who have submitted forms to lead the party, although their vetting was suspended following an interlocutory injunction secured by two members of the party. Nonetheless, Mr Mahama appears to be in pole position.
The Mahama campaign team have toured in the Central, Upper East, Upper West, Northern, Brong Ahafo, Ashanti and Greater Accra regions.
His final campaign lap will take him to the Eastern and Volta regions, his campaign team has said.
