The Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper seems not to be happy with President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
Kwesi Pratt is disappointed over some comments made by the President at the recently held 2019 GBA conference in Takoradi, Western Region.
Speaking at the 2019 annual general conference of the Ghana Bar Association (GBA) in Takoradi, Nana Addo denied the claims that he was shielding corrupt officials in his administration.
He stated that the “orchestrated attempts by my opponents to hang the tag of corruption on the necks of my government and myself, despite all the manifest efforts being made to deal with the phenomenon of corruption; it will not work. I did not come into public life to enrich myself.”
However, Kwesi Pratt is wondering why the president will describe civil society organisations, journalists, religious leaders, youth activists, and diplomats who have spoken against the increasing level of corruption in the ruling administration as ‘opponents’.
“When I heard he was going to speak I was excited. I thought he was going to show us how he was fighting corruption. However, he decided to be defensive and I was disappointed because that was not what I was expecting.
Then he said all who were speaking of corruption were his detractors, and that was disturbing. Is CDD his detractor? GII, Kennedy Agyepong and others who are complaining of corruption; are they all his detractors? If we reduce the debate to this level, we miss the point and it will help if we take it out,” he opined on Peace FM’s morning show ‘Kokrokoo’.
