The vociferous Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin Central, Mr Kennedy Ohene Agyapong has reiterated his campaign against ace international investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas.
According to Mr Agyapong, the modus operandi of Anas in entrapping people should not be countenanced by Ghanaians.
He has therefore vowed to expose Anas and show the property he [Anas] has acquired, which Mr Agyapong thinks was acquired through “dubious” means and not under genuine circumstances. He alleged blackmail as a means through which the ace journalist has acquired the said properties.
In a radio interview on Accra based Asempa FM Monday afternoon, Mr Agyapong boasted that he has also started secretly filming Anas and at the appropriate time he will also expose him.
He went ahead to dare Anas to proceed to show the documentary on sports corruption in Ghana on June 6 and that if he does, he will also expose him.
“I want Ghanaians to see who is Mr so-called Tiger Eye,” Mr Agyapong said.
He insisted it was wrong for Anas to undermine people and destroy them by setting traps.
Adding, the law maker alleged that Anas has acquired lands all over the country, one at Trade Fair and acquired a property at Dzorwulu too and insisted that, but for Kweku Baako, Anas’ boss, he [Agyapong] would have exposed him a long time ago.
But speaking on behalf of Anas, his mentor, Abdul Malik Kweku Baako said Mr Agyapong’s position was wrong.
He said Anas’ modus operandi was something that Ghanaians have widely welcomed and which has won him journalist of the year on two occasions – 2006 and 2015 – alongside a host of other international awards.
He insisted Anas’s project is to “name and shame” and was ready to defend his integrity at any time.
On why Anas has not released a similar work said to have been undertaken on Parliament and illegal mining [galamsey] by him, Mr Baako said: “You know what, I’m tired of answering that question. In the last six months, I’ve been answering the question and… even tired.
“There was no way anybody is going to compel Anas to release a project that is incomplete, that is the bottom line.”
“The Parliament and galamsey, the error came from me [Baako] when I prematurely, perhaps out of enthusiasm, and I have apologised to him [Anas], there was no need for me to have dropped the hint, nobody is going to be able to tell him to bring it out when it is incomplete.”
Mr Baako said those who want to use that to cast doubts on his integrity can continue to do that, “we don’t have a problem with that.”
Focusing on Kennedy Agyapong, Mr Baako said, “his case is not new, from day one that Anas started working and putting out things, Anas has always been attacked by some people in Ghana.”
