Popular Nigerian actor Desmond Elliot has called for a ban on foreign movies and TV shows to boost the local movie industry.
Speaking to HipTV, the actor and director pleaded with government to put structures in place to make it difficult for foreign content to come into Nigeria thereby giving the local movies more audience.
“Ban all foreign content, you know, make it difficult for foreign content to come in, so your own local content can grow and then, you need to support” he said.
The actor now turned politician is a household name when it comes to the film industry in Nigeria and the rest of Africa.
The “Husbands of Lagos” actor was re-elected into the Lagos State House of Assembly on March 9.
