The New Patriotic Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya West Constituency, George Nenyi Andah, has been sighted with what looks like a pump-action gun. It is not entirely clear when the picture was taken, but sources say, it is a preparation of what political watchers call, the ruling governments resolve to retain power by all means including using guns to scare of voters and the opposition alike.
George Andah, who is also the deputy minister of communications, is seen in this viral photo on social media showcasing the gun in public.
It’s been less than 24 hours since, Hawa Koomson, Minister of Special Development Initiative, confessed on radio firing gunshots at voters at a registration centre in the central.
Ghanaians are asking what is wrong with this members of governments and their penchants of showing off with gunshots?
Both George Andah and Hawa Koomson are senior members of governments who are also neighbours politically by constituency.
“I realized that my peoples’ lives were in danger. I wanted to scare them. None of my men had guns on then when we got to the centre. I fired the shots myself.
“I’m a Member of Parliament, I need to protect myself. It was at dawn, my police escort had not started work yet. So that is a mechanism I have adopted in his absence”, Hawa Koomson said.
