Concerned Youth of Suame Magazine in the Suame Constituency have declared their support for a businessman, George Prempeh known in private life as ‘Baashaka’ to contest as an Independent candidate for Suame constituency in the upcoming parliamentary and presidential elections.
According to the youth group led by Augustine Danso, their MP for the Suame Constituency who doubles as Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Majority Leader in parliament have failed to serve the interest of the constituent for over 20 years of support offered him.
Speaking with Ultimate News after they were prevented by police to address the media at Suame Magazine, spokesperson for the group Augustine Danso said,” the youth in the Suame constituency have lost hope in Our long-serving MP Osei Kyei-Bonsu he has failed us, therefore, we can’t vote for him again to represent us in parliament. He used to trade with us in Suame Magazine before he went to parliament he can’t point a single project he has done in Magazine including hospital, including our roads. Enough is enough we are by this interview calling on all eligible voters in Suame constituency to vote for a fresh development-oriented person like Mr. George Prempeh known as Baashaka”
The group also called on President Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo not to intervene in this matter insisting they youth are ready to renew the mandate of the NPP presidential candidate but not Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu.
“We know for sure that the President will intervene for Mr. George Prempeh to step down in the race to parliament but it won’t work we the youth are ready to vote out our underperforming MP so…Nana please allow us to take the best decision for the constituency in the interest of the New Patriotic Party in the Suame Constituency”
However, responding to the youth group, Maxwell Ofosu-Boakye aid to the Suame MP said, the group threat is much ado about nothing.
“I will want to state on record that, George Prempeh is never a member of NPP in Suame constituency he is just doing the bidding of his paymasters the NDC for the contracts they awarded him while they were in government”
The Suame Municipal Assembly presiding member agrees that Suame constituency roads are bad but stressed efforts are underway to fix them within the shortest time before the elections.
“Yes it is true that our roads are bad but we are busily working on the roads currently contractors are on site working on Maakro and Tarkwa-Maakro roads.
“Currently, we done with Breman, UGC, Abusuakuruwaa, and part of old Suame roads so the MP is working on the road concerns in the constituency. Therefore I will like to assure treat the NDC Propaganda with the contempt it deserves”.
