A twenty-five-year-old unemployed man and a resident of Ashiaman (Atadeka) has gruesomely murdered his grandmother and buried her body in an uncompleted building, Kasapafmonline.com can report.
The suspect who committed the crime about three weeks ago is currently in police custody.
Mr Kawfo, a brother of the seventy-two-year-old deceased old woman, told Kasapa News that the last time he saw his sister was on 20th April when the deceased visited him at home. He narrated that he checked on her two days later and was told the old woman had traveled to Niger to visit another grandson of hers which was surprising to him, as she would usually inform him whenever she’s about to travel.
He said later he had information that the suspect, known as Shadrach had been seen burying something in an uncompleted building nearby and was questioned but he explained that it was a goat.
Mr Kwafo said he relayed the information to the rest of the family who also informed the police.
He added that the police then visited the scene and after their preliminary checks confirmed that a human being had been buried there but was waiting for officials of the Environmental Protection Agency(EPA) to fumigate the place before the body could be exhumed.
Mr Kwafo denied claims that the suspect is mentally unstable, adding that he is a known drug addict who has been in and out of police custody several times for various crimes comitted.
“The suspects smokes weed and takes in a lot of tramadol, the Police station is virtually his home and he’s been arrested many times. Whenever he’s arrested his marijuana smoking friends will go a bail him for him to continue with his criminal activities.”
