NDC’s GHS420K Fee: I won’t pay a pesewa – Elikplim Agbemava

Mr Elikplim Agbemava, a flag bearer aspirant of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has said he will not pay the extravagant GHS420,000 nomination and filing fee for flag bearer aspirants of the party.

“I will not pay, no! I will not file, it is not right,” he said in an interview with Osei Bonsu on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen talk show on Friday, 30 November 2018.

All male flag bearer aspirants of the NDC are expected to cough up GHS400,000 as filing fee while their female counterparts and persons with disability will pay GHS200,000 and GHS150,000, respectively.

Their nomination form is going for GHS20, 000.

However, Mr Agbemava insists paying GHS420,000 to lead a party that professes social democratic principles, is not right”, adding: “It is an illegal decision that has been taken without consideration of what democracy means”.

Other flag bearers including Mr Ekwow Spio-Garbrah, Professor Joshua Alabi, Mr Alban Bagbin, Mr Stephen Atubiga, and Mr Goosie Tanoh, have also publicly rejected the amount.

Only former president John Dramani Mahama’s camp has said that they will comply with the directive.
