A former Ghanaian diplomat and Minister of Foreign Affairs, James Victor Gbeho, has called on the delegates of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to concentrate on how to quickly return the party to power by winning the next Presidential election with the selection of a winnable presidential candidate.
“And the winnable candidate is the great man you’re seeing here, Professor Joshua Alabi,” he said.
According to the veteran diplomat, the struggle by the NDC in the hope of returning to power in 2020 will be successful when the party elects Prof Joshua Alabi in the January 26 primary.
He said as an elder in the twilight of his mortal journey, like some of his colleagues, he is “seeking to leave a legacy of a victorious, happy, caring and loved NDC which is in charge of the governance of this country and succeeding in the fight against poverty”.
Waxing in his Ewe language, Ambassador Gbeho described Prof Joshua Alabi as the best among all the seven flagbearer aspirants.
He touted the accomplishments of Prof Alabi, his transformational record at former IPS (UPSA), his honours and international contacts, describing him as the next President of Ghana.
The octogenarian could not understand why any NDC loving member will bypass Prof Alabi, who will easily win election 2020 for the party, and instead opt for a difficult and torturous 2020 battle under another leader.
“All over the country, when you talk to Ghanaians, they are saying that NDC will win 2020 only when we select an unblemished, trustworthy and a visionary presidential candidate. My brothers and sisters, that leader Ghanaians are looking for is the one right here. He is this university Professor, Joshua Alabi.”
The Alabi Eastern Region campaign tour on Thursday took him Atiwa West, Atiwa East, Nkawkaw, Kwahu Abetifi and Kwahu Mpraeso constituencies.
