GUBA Careers Hosts Second Annual Event To Bring The Ghanaian Diaspora Together.

The Diaspora Transition provides an opportunity for members of the Diaspora to come and network with those who have relocated both to and from Ghana.

GUBA Careers hosted The Diaspora Transition 2019 (#TDT19), Saturday, 9th February 2019 at Clyde & Co in Aldgate, Central London. #TDT19 is the second event of the TDT Franchise.

The event provided an opportunity for people to come and meet those who have relocated from the Diaspora to Ghana and hear their stories.

Moderated by Michael LQ Amaning, Business Development Manager at Invest in Africa, the event had speakers who have all lived outside of Ghana and made the transition back to their motherland. The speakers shared experiences of their journeys, including positive and negative effects of relocation.

They boast of a plethora of expertise in the Creative, Legal, Financial, Agricultural, Technological, Corporate and Public Sectors.

Speakers at the event included: Ruth Amoah, CEO of bespoke chocolate company Sweet Art Company; Leroy K. Wadie, Art Director of design studio, Mhoseenu; banker Julian Opuni, who is the Managing Director of Fidelity Bank and Cynthia Quarcoo a barrister called to both the English and Ghanaian Bar who founded law firm, CQ Legal & Consulting. Also speaking at the event will be Thomas Baafi, CEO of tech company, Bystems Limited; David Asare Asiamah, founder of agricultural company, Agro Mindset, as well as Jake Bediako, who is the Youth Ambassador for Diaspora Affairs in the Office of the President, Ghana.

This event supports the message from the president of Ghana, His Excellency Nana Akufo- Addo, who has dubbed 2019, “The Year of Return”. By this, His Excellency is calling on those in the Diaspora to effectively “come home” and reside and “to unite Africans on the
continent with their brothers and sisters in the Diaspora.” GUBA Careers has strong backing from The Diaspora Office of the President on this event and concept.

Dentaa Amoateng MBE, founder and CEO of GUBA Enterprise, commented: “I am thrilled that The Diaspora Transition returned for a second year and brought the Ghanaian community together. The importance of showcasing success stories from the Ghanaian community cannot be underestimated as GUBA Careers hopes to inspire the next generation of businessmen and women.”
