Ghana is behind in development due to leadership style – Rickett-Hagan

A flagbearer aspirant of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Kweku Ricketts-Hagan has said that, Ghana has retrogressed in its development and trailing ten years behind what it should have being now.

He blamed the low level of development on past leaders.

Speaking in an interview on Kasapa Fm, the Cape Coast South, Member of Parliament said the country should have been better than what it is now, in terms of infrastructure, health care and education.

“Ghana at the moment is about 10 years behind where it should be, in terms of infrastructure, in terms of development, in terms of so many things. But it looks as if we have a problem with leadership.

“A leader who can take Ghana into the 21st century. Because we haven’t arrived in the 21st century. We are 18 years into the new century of the 21st century but it looks like we are not there because we are behind in so many things” he said.

Mr. Hagan who is vying to lead the NDC into the 2020 general elections, believes he stands tall amongst all his potential competitors in the NDC flagbearership race including his former boss John Dramani Mahama and the second deputy Speaker of Parliament Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin.

“I served in the government, I was fortunate to serve in the ministry of finance. So Ghana’s economy and position in finance is something am abreast with. I understand finance very well, obvious the virtue of me being an economist and an investment banker” he said.
