The widow of late Member of Parliament (MP) for Ayawaso West Wuogon, Madam Lydia Alhassan Agyarko, has been endorsed by New Patriotic Party (NPP) as its Parliamentary candidate for the impending by-election in the constituency.
This follows her election in Saturday’s parliamentary primaries of the NPP.
She polled 439 votes to beat the four other contestants for the seat.
Her closest competitor, Ato Williams polled 131 votes.
Three other contestants, Owusu Amankwah, Maame Yaa and Esinam polled 19, 76 and 1 vote respectively.
With her victory, the stage is now set for her to face Delali Kwasi Brempong who was elected by the NDC at its candidate in the party’s primaries on Friday.
He polled 415 votes to beat his competitors, Selassie Agbo and Ekaw Acquah.
The two polled 115 votes and 190 votes respectively.
Mr. Delali Emmanuel Kwasi Brempong, who is a pharmacist contested the 2016 elections on the ticket of the NDC.
He polled 22,534 representing 39.63% in the 2016 elections.
The late Agyarko who won the seat polled 32,591 which represented 57.32%.
