Aspiring GFA president George Afriyie backs Lathbridge to appeal lifetime ban

Ghana Football Association presidential aspirant George Afriyie wants Reginald Lathbridge to appeal his lifetime ban by the federation.

Lathbridge was handed the punishment for wrongfully recording a booking of a player during a league match between Bechem United and Elmina Sharks. This was the basis of the Great Olympics legal dispute with Ghana FA which delayed the start of the Ghana Premier League.

Lathbridge was charged with failing to submit a complete and accurate Match Report. However, Afriyie has advised Lathbridge to appeal the decision which he describes as harsh, ”Lathbridge committed an honest mistake. It was a mistake anybody could easily commit,” he said on Asempa FM.

”It would have been different if he went back to correct his mistake to benefit one party, but he didn’t. ”He simply realized that he had made an error and went back to correct it. ”The punishment was too harsh and uncalled for. If I were him I’d appeal the decision.”
