Akufo-Addo Reports GFA President Kwesi Nyantakyi to CID

President Akufo-Addo has reported Ghana Football Association president, Kwesi Nyantakyi to the Criminal Investigations Department for alleged influence peddling.

Nyantakyi is also to be probed for allegedly defrauding by false pretence, sources close to the Presidency, have told Graphic Online.

The call for the arrest of Nyantakyi, the longest-serving GFA president, follows comments attributed to him in what our sources say are video recordings captured as part of a soon to air documentary by ace investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas detailing corruption in Ghana football.

Nyantakyi is currently in the Republic of Madagascar on a FIFA programme.

The documentary on corruption is yet to air publicly, however, Graphic Online understands that a number of high profile individuals, including the presidency and the three ex-presidents Jerry John Rawlings, John Agyekum Kufuor and John Dramani Mahama and key institutions, have had a foretaste of it.

Against popular claims that President Akufo-Addo has ordered Nyantakyi’s arrest, Information Minister Dr. Mustapha Abdul-Hamid told Graphic Online that what the President has done was to report the GFA president to the police CID.

More soon…
